to the point of the conversation
which always gets lost
because we're not saying what
we mean, only framing,
you know, claiming the situation.
Like childhood, the hide and seek,
the envy, the knowing, the retreat,
the giving up.
Lost, lost to the cause,
to the point of the conversation which always gets lost because we're not saying what we mean, only framing, you know, claiming the situation. Like childhood, the hide and seek, the envy, the knowing, the retreat, the giving up.

Who thought it would be happy bearing witness to the cellular, the primal, the neuro not the euro, the dress size, the decline of the auto American empire. Mindlessness reigns supreme when it's time. Space not a place but a state of being. Why can't we embrace it? Multicultural, modern, historical, diverse, the city of Montreal is a writer's paradise. Infused with the heady aromas of the Mediterranean, Asia and the Middle East, the colorful and vibrant outdoor markets and restaurants with that native ambiance exacerbate my fixation on the culinary arts when I should be paying attention to the soul of the city, her people. Always stimulated by the Musee d'Art Contemporain, Christine Davis and her multimedia installation of choreographer Loie Fuller, an 1800s modern dancer who attempted to patent her use of the elements - electricity and fire -in dance is juxtaposed with Mallarme's poetry and Euclid's geometry. True genius. Betty Goodwin's retrospective was amazing - her abstractions on tarpaulins, tracing paper, vellum, steel...puts the expressionism in art.
Frank Rich, that is. Where would we be without him? I'm sick and tired of the lame excuse that we can't unseat the lobbyists who run this country. We, the people, must take matters into our own hands and it's very apparent that it will take a revolution to do this. Wake up! The party system is terminally flawed. We can't depend on it. We have to make a move. Sink or swim, baby.
What really pissed me off this week wasn't a national issue but one that is a total embarrassment to New York State. Legislation was passed to add a tax to the self-employed. The very people who don't depend on the system, who pay double social security, who don't receive unemployment, who rely on their entrepreneurial spirit to survive, are now being asked to pay their accountants twice to file quarterly tax (separate from their other quarterly state tax), retroactive to March 1 of this year and to pay some dubious tax that, frankly (and I'm not dissing ya' Frank) is ludicrous! Have we lost our groovy minds? Do the thing
or don't. Why do we have to pave the way for that vast wasteland we feel desperate to reclaim. Now do we? |
